Numbers and Prices সংখ্যা ও দাম---Songkha o Dam

Remember that in English, we divide prices at the decimal point.---মনে রাখবেন, ইংরেজি ভাষায় দামকে দশমিক দ্বারা ভাগ করা হয় ---Mone rakhben, Ingreji vasay damke doshomike vag kora hoy


For example:     $4.59     four dollars (and) fifty-nine cents (long way)---যেমন: ৪.৫৯ ডলার। চার ডলার (এবং) উনষাট সেন্ট। (দীর্ঘ উপায়ে)---Jemon: 4.59 dolar. char dolar (ebong) unsat cent. (dirgho upay)
four / fifty nine (short way)---চার/উনষাট (সংক্ষিপ্ত উপায়)---Char/Unsat (songkhipto upay)
(Time is also divided in a similar way: 12:47 is said "twelve / forty-seven")---সময়ও একইভাবে ভাগ করা হয়: ১২:৪৭ কে বলা যায়, বারো/সাতচল্লিশ---Somoyo ek-e vabe vag kora hoy: 12:47 ke bola jay, baro/ satchollish

We often say large numbers in "phrases" of two digits-মাঝে মাঝে বড় সংখ্যাকে দু’টি অংকের বাগধারায় প্রকাশ করি---Maje maje boro songkhake duti ongker bagdharay prokash kori.
 For example: 267: two hundred sixty-seven (long way)---উদাহরণ: ২৬৭: দুইশ’ সাতষট্টি (দীর্ঘ উপায়)---Udahoron: 267: Duisho, satsotti (Dirgho upay)
Two / sixty seven (short way)---দুই/সাতষট্টি (সংক্ষিপ্ত উপায়)---Dui/ satsotti (Songkhipto upay)
4381 four thousand three hundred eighty-one---৪৩৮১: চার হাজার তিনশ’ একাশি।---Char hajar tinsho’ ekashi.
Forty-three / eighty-one---তেতাল্লিশ/ একাশি---Tetallish/ Ekashi
Some people also use two-digit phrasing with telephone numbers:-- টেলিফোন নাম্বারও একাধিক অংকের বাগধারায় প্রকাশ করা যায়---Teliphone numbero ekadhik ongker bagdharay prokash kora jay.
                565-8347              five-six-five // eighty-three / forty-seven---৫৬৫-৮৩৪৭: পাঁচ-ছয়-পাঁচ-/ তিরাশি/ সাতচল্লিশ---565-8347: pach-Chhoy---pach-/tirashi/ Satchollish

Practice the following prices (both long and short ways) with a partner:---নিচের দামগুলো দীর্ঘ ও সংক্ষিপ্ত উপায়ে প্রকাশ করার চেষ্টা করুন।---Nicher damgulo dirgho o songkhipto upay e prokash korar chesta korun.
That will be____(price)______ সেটা (দাম) হবে ...---Seta (dam) hobe...
That comes to ____(price)____ সেটার (দাম) আসবে ...---Setar (dam) asbe...
